Levelland PD hosts awards banquet

The Levelland Police Department (LPD) hosted their third annual banquet Friday at the First Baptist Church.

Retired Chief of Police Albert Garcia provided the welcome before Captain Tammie McDonald recognized the special guests in attendance. The Levelland PD Honor Guard provided the presentation of the flag. Officer Mathew Beniot provided the Missing Man Table speech before retired Officer Cory Foley provided the invocation for those in attendance. Gina’s Feedbag catered the event as well.

Service awards were announced as follows:

Officer of the Year and Intoxilyzer Operator, Officer Anthony Castellano; Telecommunicator of the Year, Terez Ramos; Civilian Employee of the Year; Donna Edwards; Sharp Shooter, Life Saving Award, Advanced Peace Officer Certificate, Field Training Officer and Firearms Instructor, Officer Mathew Benoit; Officer Cory Foley was recognized for his 20 Years of Service; Advanced Peace Officer Certification and Life Saving Citation, Sergeant Rocio Gameros; Drone Pilot License; Sergeant Brian Haralson; Intoxilyzer Operator, Ernest Hernandez; Firearms Instructor, Sergeant Ty Land; Drone Pilot License; Detective Raul Lopez; Intoxilyzer Operator, School Based Law Enforcement Officer Certificate, Officer Emilio Miranda; Captain Tammie McDonald was recognized for her 35 Years of Service; Advanced Peace Officer Certification, School Based Law Enforcement Officer Certificate, Intoxilyzer Operator and Drone Pilot License, Dakota Moody; School Based Law Enforcement Officer Certificate, Officer Rey Nino; Intoxilyzer Operator, Officer Josh Rincones and was recognized for his Five Years of Service; Life Saving Award, Officer Aryan Ortega; and Life Saving Citation, Robert Kirk Bird.

Captain Mateo Lopez introduced keynote speaker Aryn Corley who is a retired captain for Texas Park & Wildlife. Foley provided the benediction before the event was adjourned by Garcia.
