South Plains College announced that the SPC Judy Bryant Fitness Court is now open.
The official dedication and ribbon cutting will be in the spring after the overhead structure is completed, but it is currently open around the clock for the entire Levelland community.
SPC does note that use of the facility is free to the public.
The fitness court is located South of the Natatorium on the Levelland campus and was made possible by a grant from Blue Cross Blue Shield of Texas and a generous donation from the Butch and Judy Bryant and Scott and Jaime Bryant Families.
There are introductory sessions this week at the following times: Wednesday, Nov. 15 at 12 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.; Thursday, Nov. 16 at 12 p.m., 1 p.m. and 4:15 p.m.; and Friday, Nov. 17, at noon. They do encourage users to download the app, Fitness Court: Free Outdoor Gyms Nationwide, prior to arrival.
There will be a demonstration of exercises followed by a short workout to familiarize individuals with some of the options. They are also looking for ambassadors, volunteers to help with their mission of teaching others how to use the fitness court.
Please call (806) 716-2236 if anyone would like to help with the program or if more information is needed.
