Texas comptroller releases September sales tax figures

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will send cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for September, 3.4% more than in September 2022.

These allocations are based on sales made in July by businesses that report tax monthly.

Cities are expected to receive $687.6 million in allocations, which is a 3.3% increase from Sept. 2022 and is a 5.4% increase in the yearto- date change.

Transit systems are expected to receive $225.4 million in allocations, which is a 0.9% increase from Sept. 2022 and is a 5.9% increase in the year-to-date change.

Counties are expected to receive $65.7 million in allocations, which is a 5.4% increase from Sept. 2022 and is a 11.0% increase in the year-to-date change.

Special purpose districts are expected to receive $102.8 million in allocations, which is a 8.7% increase from Sept. 2022 and is a 12.3% increase in the year-to-date change.

Overall, all recipients are receiving $1.1 billion in allocations, which is a 3.4% increase from Sept. 2022 and a 6.4% increase in the year-to-date change.

The City of Levelland received a net payment for this period of $378,525.34, which is 2.92% more than last year’s comparable payment of $367,775.23. The current year-to-date total is roughly $3.74 million, which is a 8.69% increase from last year’s year-to-date total of roughly $3.4 million.

The City of Sundown received a net payment for this period of 31,765.87, which is 26.51% less than last year’s comparable payment of $43,226.42. The current year-to-date total is $405,108.37, which is a 6.20% increase from last year’s year-todate total of $381,428.41.

The City of Smyer received a net payment for this period of $5,456.17 and currently has a year-to-date total of $47,867.43.

The City of Ropesville received a net payment for this period of $12,255.45, which is a 13.07% increase from last year’s comparable payment of $10,838.55. The current year-to-date total is $105,642.62, which is a 13.54% increase from last year’s year-to-date total of $93,037.08.

The City of Anton received a net payment for this period of $8,344.39, which is a 9.37% increase from last year’s comparable payment of $7,628.96. The current year-to-date total is $81,185.73, which is a 9.62% increase from last year’s year-to-date total of $74,060.77.

For Opdyke West, it received a net payment for this period of $345.03, which is a 1.70% increase from last year’s comparable payment of $339.24. The current year-to-date total is $3,427.80, which is a 11.52% decrease from last year’s year-to-date total of $3,874.42.

The City of Morton received a net payment for this period of $13,599.60, which is a 26.85% increase from last year’s comparable payment of $10,720.28. The current year-to-date total is $121,497.47, which is a 19.20% increase from last year’s year-to-date total of $101,921.23.

The City of Whiteface received a net payment for this period of $3,414.06, which is a 32.76% increase from last year’s comparable payment of $2,571.56. The current year-to-date total is $26,261.74, which is a 6.59% increase from last year’s year-to-date total of $24,635.96.
