AgriLife Extenion hosts Crop Seminar Dec. 20

The Extension office in Levelland is hosting a Crop Production and Protection Seminar Tuesday, December 20, at the Hockley County Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Office at 1212 Houston Street, suite 2.

The seminar is worth five TDA CEU’s: –One L&R; –Two IPM; –One Drift; and –One Gen. Good for all TDA Private, Commercial, and Noncommercial Pesticide Applicator License holders.

The cost is $25; only eight seats remaining.

Registration will begin at at 8:30 a.m.; At 9 a.m.: Laws and Regulations/TDA guidelines for licensing by Dr. Mark Mtocha; At 10 a.m.: What goes into selecting a variety? Ensuring Seed Quality and a Good Stand; Cotton by Dr. Graig Bednarz; and Feed Grains/Silage/Forage by Dr. Calvin Trostle.

At 11 a.m.: How reliable are insect technologies? Efficacy and economic thresholds. Understanding Gene Transfer and Protection by Dr. David Kerns; Efficacy of Pesticides and economic threshols by Blayne Reed; and Seed/In furrow Treatments for Pests by r. Pat Porter.

A break will be taken at 12 p.m. followed by Plant Health and Protection Decisions related to Disease, Viruses and Nematodes at 12:15 p.m.; Cotton by Dr. Terry Wheeler: planing decisions, prevention measures, etc; Corn/ Sorgham by Dr. Thomas Isakeit: prevention, awareness, control; and Small Grains by Dr. Ken Obasa: indentification, prevention, control.
