Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service welcomes two new agents to the Hockley County office: Ashley Hanson of Lubbock and Tristyn Galindo, of Marathon.
Hanson is the new family and community health agent. She has had many careers in the education field, spending six years with AgriLife Extension as an agent in Snyder before teaching high school family and consumer sciences courses at Frenship High in Wolfforth.
Before returning to AgriLife Extension, Hanson worked in admissions and student affairs for more than five years at the Texas Tech Health Sciences Center in Lubbock.
“I’m very excited about returning to AgriLife Extension,” said Hanson. “I look forward to tailoring programming to county residents’ needs.”
Hanson earned her bachelor’s degree in early childhood education at Texas Tech University and achieved her master’s in organizational leadership from Colorado State University.
Galindo began in 2022 with AgriLife Extension as the assistant agent for agriculture and natural resources in Hale County and moved to the 4-H and youth development agent position in Hockley County January 9.
She obtained her bachelor’s degree in animal science from West Texas A&M University in 2021 and is currently working toward her master of agriculture degree at West Texas A&M University.
Galindo also spent a summer completing an internship with the AgriLife Extension office in Randall County.
“I grew up participating in 4H showing pigs and steers at the local and state level,” said Galindo. “I look forward to meeting the families of Hockley County and overseeing the 4-H youth development program in the area.”
The Texas A&M AgriLife Extension Service of Hockley County is located at 1212 Houston Street, Suite 2, Levelland, 806894-3159.
