Annual Sundown Oil Patch Day set August 10

Through the hard work of many Sundown community members, Oil Patch Day is set for August 10.

Similar to years past, the event will begin with a parade thanks to the Sundown Chamber of Commerce.

Line-up will begin at 9 a.m. and will take placed on East and West 2nd Street. The parade will begin at 9:30 a.m. At the end of the parade, the National Anthem will be played at 10 a.m.

All events will be held at the Sundown City Park. The car show and motorcycle show will begin following the parade.

At 11 a.m., the DrillBit event will begin while the horseshoes event will start at 11:30 a.m.

The cornhole event will follow immediately after the horseshoe tournament.

The volleyball event will begin at 1 p.m. Karaoke will be held at the main stage with three times at 1 p.m., 3 p.m., and 5 p.m. Kids game event will be announced at a later time.

The Hub City Express Band will be playing live music from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m. The band will be playing Country, Classic Rock and Tejano music.

Community members can also look forward to the second annual Art Show throughout the day.

From 6 p.m. to 9 p.m., live music will be provided by Micah Ruthardt.

Around 9 p.m. or when the sun goes down, the firework show will begin.

Following the firework show, a ragball tournament will be held with the proceeds benefitting the Sundown Softball Organization.

With the expectation of large numbers attending the event, the City of Sundown is cautioning event goers and citizens to be vigilant on roads and congested areas which include the city park. Security will be provided to ensure safety.
