I would like to remind community members to be careful and mindful of burning now that we are experiencing spring weather.
I recently put together a story talking about burning within city limits being against city ordinance and I felt like it was not needed because there are one or two cases that are few and far in between, but there have been more instances occurring.
Burning outside city limits is a right that our county citizens have but I encourage those individuals to be mindful of the conditions when they choose to do so. The lack of humidity and moisture along with high wind speeds we experience more often than not are causes for fires.
When I see the fire reports that are made about small fires having to be put out on days that exceed safe conditions it blows my mind.
The threat of wild fires for our area is real. We have only so many resources to combat grass fires and our neighbors only have so many resources they can offer.
Please exercise caution when burning.
