For those of you I have not had the privilege to shake your hand and exchange pleasantries, I usually look at certain topics objectively and try to remove the emotion factor.
However, I am absolutely tired of unfit individuals who think they can discard animals on a whim. I do not live in Levelland, but I am located about a mile roughly out of city limits. I have come across several animals that have been dumped off in our area because they no longer want the animal or would rather take it out somewhere than simply contacting the animal shelter.
The ignorance is baffling. Animals such as dogs and cats do not deserve that treatment and I feel empathetic of all breeds. It is not the animal that is naturally malicious, disobedient or a nuisance, it is solely on the owner or the individual playing as an owner.
Within in a two week span, I have had to deal with a dead puppy that was next to my home that was left to rot and then a husky left to fin for herself at my home.
Discarding animals does not solve anything, it places individuals in a tough situation who stubble upon these animals and overloads our shelters.
I can’t thank the Levelland Animal Shelter enough for the work they are doing and especially when they struggle with low staff and unruly callers who would rather shift their anger and frustration at those trying to remedy the situation.
