Another day whith Dom!

We are officially in the middle of playoff basketball for both the boys’ and girls’ in our area.

While our girls basketball teams are in the middle of their playoff campaigns, our boys teams are fighting for their second round spots.

Playoff’s are a great thing. This is the time where we find out how good we really are on the court.

I think we have multiple teams capable of making deep runs if they can stay focused and locked in.

I’ve been traveling with the Loboettes since their Bi-District round and I’ve been impressed with the tenacity and grit for the amount of seniors that program lost last season.

I think that group spent the season gaining experience, finding their game and ultimately finding that confidence within themselves that they can compete at a high level themselves and not ride on the coat-tails of the previous group.

The third round has been the Loboette kryptonite and Tuesday’s matchup against the number one team in the state in Glen Rose will tell us where the Loboettes sit.

The News-Press sends the paper to the printer on Tuesday afternoon, so I won’t be able to tell any of our dear readers what I thought about the game until I write the story for Sunday’s issue.

My projection or hope is that the Loboettes not only put up a fight, but force Glen Rose to actually play four solid quarters of basketball.

I want to see two quality opponents hit the hard wood and the better team win.

I don’t think the Loboettes have put up a game where they have four solid quarters of basketball.

Self inflicted mistakes put Levelland in a tough spot for the district title against Estacado and spotty quarters against Mineral Wells and Bridgeport didn’t affect the outcome.

Not only for the Loboettes but for the remaining girls teams still competing in the third round, this is where teams don’t squeak by on luck.

Teams in this position play because they deserve their spot.

The Lady Lopes clashed with Sands Tuesday night I hope they had nothing but success on the court.

Our Ropes Lady Eagles and Sundown Roughettes had a rivalry match in the third round of playoffs Tuesday night as well.

Congratulations to both teams as one has win and continue their journey.

The amount of basketball talent in this area is amazing.

Safe travels to all of the teams, families, fan bases and basketball lovers that have continuously made the drive to each game.
