LHS Choir Director Joshua Ballard recently reported that over the past several years, the high school choir has averaged about five students earning a spot in the Region Choir. This year, 12 LHS singers earned a place.
According to Ballard, the accomplishment is special since students competed against dozens of talented singers in their individual voice parts, and only the Top 14 chairs advanced to Region Choir.
Student put in countless hours of learning and practicing difficult music starting at the beginning of summer, often working independently outside of class. Most also spent 13plus hours on Saturday going through a very challenging audition process.
LHS students who have auditioned include: Soprano, 44 auditioned: MJ Niederhauser, 2nd; Elyssa O'Bryon, 12th; Skyla Hernandez, 14th; Baylee Romero, 18th; Madison Childers, 26th; Kyliegh Tadlock, 27th; Keira McCain, 28th; Alexis Miller, 35th; Tia Romero, 39th; and Michelle Cardenas, 44th.
Alto, 67 auditioned: Paula Castellanos, 9th; Olivia Ramirez, 12th; Angelina Gonzales, 17th; Daniela Hernandez, 38th; Aaliyah Ramirez, 57th; and Alice Guerra, 60th.
Tenor, 19 auditioned: Jesse Reyes, 6th; and Moises Medrano, 11th.
Bass, 27 auditioned: Isaiah Mora, 5th; Izaiah Chavez, 7th; Darian Rico Serna, 8th; Mateo Gonzales, 12th; and Edde Palomino, 18th.
'The journey isn't over,” said Ballard. “Our Region Choir qualifiers now have two more rounds of auditions standing between them and the Texas All-State Choir. We are incredibly proud of every Lobo who auditioned. Their rankings represent hours of preparation, courage, dedication and growth.”
