The Hockley County Sheriff’s Office announced three individuals were arrested related to battery theft over the weekend. Hockley County investigators utilized tips from citizens regarding battery’s being stolen from local businesses. Sheriff’s deputies conducted surveillance as well as various interviews. Through their investigation they obtained probable cause to believe three individuals, Anthony Landers, 43, Bobby Garrett, 29, and Herman Brooks, 46, all of Levelland, to be involved.
Deputies arrested Garrett and Landers on the scene on Friday, October 29th and recovered $7,500 worth of stolen property in the process.
Brooks was arrested by the Levelland PD the following day for an outstanding warrant related to this investigation.
Sheriff Ray Scifres praised the work of the county investigators as well as the support of the Levelland PD.
“Outstanding work by our investigators, who continue to aggressively work these offenses, locate offenders, make arrests, and recover property,” said Scifres. “Additional charges may be possible as the incident remains under investigation. Many thanks to the Levelland Police Department for their arrest of Brooks over the weekend. All subjects are considered innocent unless proven guilty in a court of law.”
