Commissioners’ Court approves asbestos services

The Hockley County Commissioners’ Court held their regular meeting Monday morning, discussing service contracts and vehicles for sale.

The groups biggest item on the agenda dealt with approving a service contract between Hockley County and GIF Services LLC for asbestos air monitoring services located at 702, 706 and 708 Avenue H in Levelland.

The item focused on asbestos services for the recently acquired properties which had been broken into two sections. The first portion is dedicated to abatement and one for monitoring air quality during the process.

It was also mentioned that the removal company and the monitoring company must be two different companies. The bid for the monitoring services came in from Gif Services LLC from Lubbock with a cost of $21,800. With the estimated bid cost, it was highlighted that the number could change as the number of hours it will take to complete the abatement could vary.

Moving forward, it was explained to the court that the City of Levelland will not issue a permit for demolition with the agreements for both portions of monitoring and abatement.

An additional item on the agenda was the approval from the court to enter auction agreement with Purple Wave Auction.

Following the approval of the agreement, the court will be auctioning off vehicles and equipment that include a 2010 Ford pickup, 2003 Chevy pickup, 2012 Chevy pickup, 2011 Chevy pickup, 2006 Chevy pickup, a 2005 Ford pickup and a Wylie 500-gallon spray rig.
