The Hockley County Commissioners’ Court will meet on Aug. 3 Commissioners are expected to consider and take action to vote on the proposed tax rate for 2026. Submission of the 2026 no-new-revenue tax rate and voter-approval tax rate is expected by tax assessor Misty Taylor.
Additionally, commissioners are expected to set the date and time for the public hearing on the tax rate and budget.
Commissioners are expected to consider and approve no changes to the Texas Department of Motor Vehicles Imposition Optional Frees for 2027. Other action items to be considered include a letter of agreement between Hockley County and the Lubbock MHMR Center dba StarCare Specialty Health Systems for CME and court testimony, and the renewal of an ambulance service contract with the City of Levelland Covenant Health System ambulance service. A sub-agreement will be discussed for the purchase of an ambulance under HB 3000 grant.
Commissioners are expected to take action to approve the proposal from Axon Enterprises for the purchase of three cameras for vehicles used by Hockley County Juvenile Probation, a budgetary line-item transfer for payment to Axon for the purchase.
Commissioners are also expected to take action on the application to request used of the courthouse lawn as submitted by Levelland Mains Street for Trunk or Treat scheduled for Oct. 31. Commissioners are expected to consider and take action on the Continuation Certificate issued for Larry Cardon, and the official bond and oath for Jasmin Posada.
Other agenda items include proposals from Pye Barker for the installation of panic button and emergency notification systems at the courthouse and annex; and adding AI to the district attorney’s Lexis contract.
