The Hockley County Commissioner’s Court held a brief regular meeting Monday morning, with a handful of action items.
County Tax Assessor Debra Bramlett handled a majority of the meeting, as taxable values for the county were in.
According to Bramlett, the county’s taxable value for 2023 is roughly $3 billion, with the value of new property being around $5 million. The anticipated Collection Rate for the year is 99%, which is slightly higher than the year prior.
Bramlett also presented the court with Ad Valorem Tax Refunds her office receives, bringing in 45 for this particular meeting. This high number is due to Bramlett collecting the requests to present as a batch every 30-45 days, but Commissioner Carter also highlighted that at this time of year mailed notices were being sent about these tax refunds. In turn, citizen’s attention were more pointed toward the topic.
The court received a bid for the property at 103 Avenue M, Levelland, for $3,100 from Luis Rondon and Elizabeth Flores Rondon, which was unanimously accepted.
