Hockley County primary filings

As the primary race for the Republican side is slated for March 5, 2024, there have been multiple filings for several spots.

Hockley County Sheriff Ray Scifres recently announced he will not be seeking a third term, while three individuals have filed including Jared W. Dockery who is currently with the Hockley County Sheriff’s office, Chris Wischkaemper and Joseph (Jody) Guerra.

Two have filed for Hockley County Tax Assessor-Collector including Misty D. Taylor and Crystal Forster.

Alan Wisdom is currently serving as the Hockley County Commissioner for Precinct One. He has drawn two challengers in David Atkinson and former commissioner Curtis Thrash.

The 286th Judicial District Attorney Angela Overman has drawn an opponent in Donnie Yandell.

Several offices have not drawn contenders at least for the Republican Primary including Hockley County Attorney Anna Dunn Hord, Hockley County Commissioner of Precinct Three Seth Graf, and constables in precincts two, four and five. Those are currently occupied by Robert Dalton, Jennifer Kinney and Toney Cowan respectively.

Wendi McNabb has filed for Justice of the Peace for Precinct One for an unexpired term and Craig Workman has filed for Constable Precinct Number One.

As of Tuesday morning the Texas State Democratic Party is showing no filings for Hockley County.
