Hockley Grand Jury returns indictments

A Hockley County Grand Jury in the 286th Judicial District Court returned 14 indictments, 10 of those were made public.

Marcus Lee Washington, 36, was charged with the possession of marijuana, a controlled substance under penalty group one, 1-b, less than one gram.

The indictment states, on or about December 24, 2022, Washington knowingly and intentionally possessed a controlled substance, methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.

Miguel Jessie Chavez, 23, was charged with the possession of marijuana between four ounces and five pounds.

On or about December 31, 2021, Chavez intentionally and knowingly possessed a controlled substance, marijuana, in an amount more than four ounces but equal to or less than five pounds.

Modesta Andrea Hyson, 30, was charged with the possession of marijuana, a controlled substance under penalty group one, 1-b, less than one gram.

On or about December 21, 2022, Hyson knowingly and intentionally possessed a controlled substance, methamphetamine, in an amount less than one gram.

Dmarcus Carter Palmer, 24, was charged with manufacturing, delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one, between four grams and 200 grams. Additionally, Palmer was charged with the possession of a firearm by a felon.

The first count within the indictment states, on or about January 5, the defendant knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, cocaine, in the amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

The second count states, on or about January 5, Palmer having been convicted of the felony offense of deadly conduct by discharging a firearm on February 27, 2020, intentionally and knowingly possessed a firearm before the fifth anniversary of the defendants release from supervision under community supervision or parole from the Texas Department of Criminal Justice following conviction of the felony.

Rikardo Nikolas Chavez, 18, was charged with the possession of marijuana between four ounces and five pounds. Additionally, the defendant was charged with possessing a prohibited substance in a correctional facility.

The first count states, on or about December 31, 2021, Chavez knowingly possessed a usable quantity of marijuana in ana amount of four ounces or more, but less than five pounds.

The second count in the indictment states, on or about December 31, 2021, Chavez knowingly possessed a controlled substance, marijuana, while in the Hockley County Jail, a correctional facility.

Robert Espinosa Jr., 42, was charged with driving while intoxicated with a child under 15years-of-age.

On or about January 28, the defendant operated a motor vehicle in a public place while intoxicated by alcohol with the vehicle occupied by a passenger younger than 15-years-of-age.

Tavadrai Trevon Eddington, 23, was charged with manufacturing, delivery of a controlled substance in penalty group one, between four grams and 200 grams.

On or about January 5, Eddington knowingly possessed, with the intent to deliver a controlled substance, cocaine, in an amount of four grams or more but less than 200 grams.

Tommy Douglas Young, 36, was charged with the possession of a controlled substance in penalty group two, less than one gram.

On or about February 26, 2022, Young knowingly possessed a controlled substance, tetrahydrocannanbinol, in an amount less than one gram.

Tori Elaine Reed, 45, was charged for burglary of a habitation with the intent to commit assault.

On or about March 21, Reed intentionally and knowingly entered a habitation without the effective consent of the owner and committed assault against the owner.

Trevor O English, 33, was charged with the theft of property between $2,500 and $30,000.

The first count within the indictment states, on or about February 10, 2022, English unlawfully appropriated, by acquiring or exercising control over a motor vehicle. The value of the vehicle was between $2,5000 and $30,000, owned by Kashon Wilson.

A second count states English intentionally operated a motor vehicle without the effective consent of Wilson, the owner.
