David said to the Philistine, “You come against me with the sword and spear and javelin, but. This day the Lord will deliver you into my hands and I’ll strike you down and cut off your head. This very day I will give the carcasses of the Philistine army to the birds and the wild animals and the whole world will know that there is a God in Israel. And all those gathered here will know that is not by sword of spear that the Lord saves, but the battle is the Lord’s and He will give all of you into our hands.” 1 Samuel 17:15-17
After Eve was deceived and Adam sinned in the Garden of Eden, God prophesied (promised) the devil “I will put enmity between you and the woman, and between your seed and her Seed, He shall bruise your head and you shall bruise His heel.” This was definitely a promise of the Messiah who would come to earth, live a sinless life, die on the cross (His heel would be bruised), and rise again on the third day, victorious taking back mankind’s rightful authority of the earth. It also foretold the battle that man would have with the devil and the evil of this world. Giants were the seed of the serpent. Genesis 6:4 “There were giants on the earth in those days, and also afterwards, when the sons of God came in to the daughters of men and they bore children to them. Those were the mighty men who were of old, men of renown.” Giants were the offspring of the women of the human race bearing children to the fallen angels. The giants were half human and half angel and they caused great wickedness and turned man’s heart from God. Being the seed of the serpent, giants were the result of rebellion against God and His Law. Even though the flood destroyed the giants that had taken over the earth, giants appeared throughout the Old Testament until King David and his mighty men destroyed the last of them. Giants occupied the promised land; God gave to His chosen people. The giants not only tormented the Israelites, they tried to keep them from taking possession of the promises of God. After God delivered the children of Israel from slavery in Exodus and Moses sent the twelve spies to go and spy out he land., when they returned ten of the spies refused to go in and take the land because, “There we saw the giants (the descendants of Anak, came form the giants ) and we were like grasshoppers in our own sight, and so we were in their sight.” Their refusal to confront the giants caused them to wander in the wilderness for forty years. There always be the offspring of a giant that stand in the way of the promises of God. (Demons are the bodiless spirits of the giants.”
Not only do the giants try to keep us from inheriting all that God has for us, they will show up and try to steal the blessings of God we already possess. In 1 Samuel 17, the Philistines used the Goliath the giant to intimidate the Israelite army and cause them to be “dismayed and greatly afraid.” For forty days Goliath stood in defiance of the God of Israel, both morning and evening. (Isn’t it interesting that many of us listen to the mainstream news in the morning and in the evening and it reports the destruction of the family and our beloved United Sates of America on a regular basis. The narrative the media puts out has caused fear on God’s people for years and we are like the armies of Israel, hunkering down in our homes, afraid to stand and fight the devil, the one Jesus gave us authority over.) God always send a way of escape, a deliver to lead His people out of bondage, David’s father sent him to the battle to take food for his brothers, and he heard the lies Goliath stood and said to the army every day. David refused to allow Goliath to intimidate him, instead he remembered the battles and victories God had already won for him. The times the lion and the bear came and took a sheep of the flock David was assigned to watch over. David pursued both of the ferocious animals and killed them, rescuing the sheep. David allowed his past victories to give him the courage needed to fight the giant who was trying to enslave the Israelites. Not only did he think about the past victories, he was quick to tell the men at the battle and King Saul about the faithfulness of God. He used His testimony to overcome the enemy. (Revelations 12:11 “They overcame by the blood of the lamb and the word of their testimony.”) Saul refused to go and fight Goliath but he tried to put his armor on David when David asked for permission to fight with Goliath. As we face the giants in our lives, the people around us who refuse to engage in the battle, will try to put their opinions and advice on us and instead of helping us in the battle, it will hinder us from being all that God has called us to be. God had already told Samuel to anoint David as king of Israel, and David had been introduced to King Saul because his music kept the evil spirits from tormenting Saul. Now David was given the opportunity to show the Israelite Army the anointing and power of God on his life. The giant standing before David was his defining moment to walk into the call and destiny on his life. David did not shrink back from the battle; he took his staff in his hand and he chose 5 smooth stones from the brook as he bravely went to defeat Goliath. The staff was something the shepherds carried, and each time they fought off an animal of prey, they would notch their staff. I wonder if David held his staff and felt each of the notches on his staff and remembered the victories that God had given him. He picked up the five smooth stones, one for Goliath and one for each of Goliath’s brothers. It is no coincidence David showed up to battle with a stone, the New Testament referred to Jesus as a rock and the stone the builders rejected. David knew what it would take to win the battle, and he told Goliath “I come against you in the name of the Lord Almighty, the God of the armies of Israel, whom you have defiled.” David knew how to handle the stone; he swung his slingshot and released the stone and it traveled across the valley and landed on Goliath’s forehead and Goliath fell facedown. David did not stop until the giant’s head was cut of with his own sword. After his courageous leadership, the army of Israel pursued, overtook the Philistines and plundered the spoils in their tents. David killed the giant assigned to him and some of his mighty men killed Goliath’s brothers.
In many modern prophecies, God refers to Donald Trump as His David. I believe President Donald Trump has been called and anointed to kill the giant of the global government that is trying to enslave the United States of America. When the appointed time comes, all of the Unites States of America will recognize the anointing and call of God on President Trump. Just like King David had mighty men to kill Goliath’s brothers, we as the body of God have giants we are called and anointed to kill. WE will be victorious by the blood of the lamb and the word of our testimony. Spend time reminiscing about all the times God has been faithful to you. Remember the enemies God has helped you overcome. Then chose your weapon and go after your giant in the name of the Lord. 2 Corinthians 10:4 “For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal, but mighty in God for the pulling down of strongholds.” Ephesians 6 we are instructed to put on the whole armor of God. We must prepare for battle every day, because we do not know what day God is going to give the giant into your hand. We are told to take the shield of faith and block the things the enemy throws at us. Our weapon of defense is the sword of the Spirit, the word of God. When the enemy attacks, we must respond with the promises and provisions found in the word of God. The weapon we use in offense, to initiate the battle is the word of God. Jesus told us in Matthew 12:29 “How can one enter into a strong man’s house and plunder his goods, unless he first binds the strong man?” WE can go into the enemies’ camp and take back the things he has stolen from us, but we must first bind him. Jesus said in Matthew 18:18 “Truly I tell you, whatever you bind on earth, will be bound in heaven and what ever you lose in earth will be loosed in heaven.” It is time for the church, the ecclesia, to use the word of God and bind the enemy, defeating his hold on our lives. We must loose the captives, people and things the enemy has taken from us with our prayers and our decrees. Get in the word and ask God to give you a scripture or a promise to stand on and use the scripture to either bind the strongman or loose the blessings of God in your life. God’s word is living and powerful according to Hebrews 4:12. God promised in Isaiah 55:11 “So shall My word be that goes forth from my mouth, it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing which I sent it.” Will you put the stone (the word of God) in your sling and allow God to direct it at the enemy? When we do our part and apply the word, He promises to send it out and it will come back successful and prosperous. I want to be able to say like Paul. “I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.”
