I am a retired teacher/librarian, and I would like to ask the registered voters in Hockley and Cochran Counties to vote for Proposition 9 in the upcoming election.
Most retired teachers do not qualify for Social Security, so we depend on our TRS pension. The passage of this proposition does not raise taxes as the legislature has already set aside the funds.
Many retirees have never had a raise while everyone knows that costs have gone up. There are many school employees who work as bus drivers, custodians, and other positions who will also receive this COLA.
I am proud that I live in a community that values our educators and schools.
Please vote on November 7 for Proposition 9!
