Levelland Fire Report

2/2/2023 - DISPATCH 12:56 AM - CLEARED 1:23 AM LEVELLAND Units were dispatched to a residence in the 400 block of Poplar Street in reference to a small fire. Upon entry to the residence, the fire was put out. It was determined the fire was started by a heating element failure. Power to the house was turned off and the homeowner was advised an electrician was needed to properly isolate the issue.

2/1/2023 - DISPATCH 6:52 AM - CLEARED 12:45 PM - SMYER

The department received a call from dispatch in reference to a multi-car wreck on Highway 114 in Smyer. Fire units were requested to provide assistance to the Smyer Fire Departmen and Levelland EMS. Upon arrival, three vehicles were involved with one on fire. Smyer FD extinguished the vehicle. LFD assisted with extinguishing the fire and removal of a fatal victim from the wreck. Units stayed on scene until DPS gave the release.

1/31/2023 - DISPATCH 5:37 AM - CLEARED 7:25 AM LEVELLAND The fire department received a call in reference to smoke coming from a residence attic in the 1800 block of 9th Street. After further investigation, it was determined that the cause was coming from the living room area where a space heater was plugged in. Fire personnel used a pike pole to pull the ceiling and wall to expose the burning area. The area was extinguished and the meter was pulled.

1/30/2022 - DISPATCH 8:44 PM - CLEARED 9:13 PM LEVELLAND The fire department received a call from the Levelland Police Department regarding a dog house on fire at a residence in the 1200 block of Avenue A. Fire units accessed the residence backyard through the alleyway and extinguished the fully involved dog house.

1/30/2023 - DISPATCH 6 PM - CLEARED 8:40 PM - LEVELLAND

Fire units were requested by the police department as they were atempting a forcible entry at a residence in the 1900 block of Avenue H. Upon arrival, fire personnel broke through a window in the garage door entry way and unlocked the door. The patient was located in the residence as the individual had fallen.

1/26/2023 - DISPATCH 2:22 PM - CLEARED 3:39 PM LEVELLAND Fire units were dispatched to assist the police department with traffic control for a wreck that had occurred at the intersection of College Avenue and Highway 114.

1/24/2023 - DISPATCH 5:41 PM - CLEARED 7:30 PM - HOCKLEY COUNTY

The fire department received a report that a controlled burn near Veretto Road and E Ellis Street was causing smoke to enter a home. Multiple fire units arrived and due to the smoke blowing in the residence, the fire was extinguished.

1/24/2023 - DISPATCH 7:11 AM - CLEARED 7:24 AM LEVELLAND The fire department received a report of a smoke smell coming from the 800 block Avenue C. After scanning the area for visible smoke or smell, units returned to the station.

1/23/2023 - DISPATCH 3:42 PM - CLEARED 4 PM - LEVELLAND

The fire department received multiple reports of heavy black smoke coming from the 2000 block of E. Ellis. After arrival, fire personnel observed four individuals burning materials. Personnel checked the area and made sure everything was clear before leaving the area. The burning was an authorized burn.

1/22/2023 – DISPATCH 8:14 PM – CLEARED 8:30 PM – LEVELLAND

The fire department was contacted by the police department about a resident in the 1200 block of 12th Street possibly burning something illegal. Fire and police units made contact and were advised it may be drug activity. There was no fire in the area.

1/22/2023 – DISPATCH 7:23 PM – CLEARED 7:38 PM – LEVELLAND

The police department received a call about a strong smell in the area of the area of the 400 block of Poplar. Fire personnel check the area and were unable to locate anything. 1/22/2023 – DISPATCH 12:44 PM – CLEARED 12:58 PM - LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call regarding a child locked in a vehicle at Holy Temple Church of God in Christ. Fire personnel gained access using tools. 1/21/2023 – DISPATCH 12:23 PM – CLEARED 12:40 PM – LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call from an alarm company stating a fire alarm was going off in Gerstenberger Hall. After investigating fire personal found no indication of a fire. Fire personnel attempted to reset and restore the alarm, but the alarm showed a fault code requiring maintenance from the alarm service company.

1/20/2023 – DISPATCH 6:45 PM – CLEARED 7 PM – LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call from dispatch in reference to a possible H2S gas smell in the area of the 400 block of Hickory. The area was checked with a gas monitor with no H2S gas detected.

1/19/2023 – DISPATCH 10:11 AM – CLEARED 12:19 PM – LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call advising someone had hit a gas line on the 100 block of Dogwood. Upon arrival fire personnel attempted to make contact with homeowners in the surrounding area to inform homeowners of the situation and check for any gas leaks with no answer.
