Levelland Fire Report

5/6/2023 – DISPATCH 3:24 PM – CLEARED 3:26 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY

The fire department received a call reporting an unknown type of fire on the 900 block of Robin Road, Hockley County. The fire department were immediately called back and were cancelled by dispatch.

5/6/2023 – DISPATCH 4:48 PM – CLEARED5:46 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY

The fire department received a call reporting a wreck at East FM 1585 and Quail Road, Hockley County. Upon arrival, fire personnel conducted an investigation and found all occupants were out of the vehicle. Fire personnel remained at the scene until being released to the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office.

5/6/2023 – DISPATCH: 5:14 PM – CLEARED: 5:30 PM – LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call stating there was a sprinkler leaking at Starbucks. Upon arrival, fire personnel found it to be a yard sprinkler and contacted the water department to shut off the water.

5/5/2023 – DISPATCH 5:13 PM – CLEARED 6:30 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY

The fire department received a call in reference to a hydraulic oil or fluid spill near the intersection of North FM 303 and West FM 597, Hockley County at 5:13 p.m. Dispatch was informed that “something” had been struck and was leaking hydraulic oil or fluid on the roadway. Two fire units and the Hockley County Sheriff’s Office were dispatched to the scene. Deputies informed fire personnel that a hydraulic line on a tractor was leaking oil or fluid on the highway. A deputy requested the Texas Department of Transportation to respond to the location. Fire personnel assisted in keeping vehicle traffic away from the incident and monitored the situation to make sure there was not a fire threat present. The report states fire personnel remained on the scene until there was no longer a hazard.

5/5/2023 – DISPATCH 3:33 PM – CLEARED 4:10 PM – LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call in reference to woodchips or mulch possibly smoking or on fire on the 200 block of Butch Street. Two units responded to Kauffman park and found smoldering wood chips or mulch in the playground area. The smoldering was extinguished by fire personnel with no reported injuries.

5/5/2023 – DISPATCH 1:22 PM – CLEARED 1:36 PM – LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call regarding a fire alarm activation at the Deer Creek Apartment Complex with no specific apartment number given. Upon arrival, fire personnel were advised by police officers that there was not a fire at the location and the fire department was not needed.

5/4/2023 – DISPATCH 12:38 AM – CLEARED 12:52 AM – LEVELLAND

The fire department received a call from a resident on the 400 block of 10th Street stating her dryer was on fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel conducted an investigation and found the drum in the dryer had locked up. The report states the dryer was just smoking. Fire personnel advised the resident to not use the dry and to contact a repair company.

5/2/2023 DISPATCH 9:55 PM – CLEARED 10:22 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY

The fire department received a call from a passerby on Highway 114 near the 200 block of Crestview Road in reference to an unknown type of fire. The caller advised that they could see flames in the area near a residence. The fire department received a call of a controlled burn on Crestview Road approximately one to two hours before the passerby called. Fire personnel responded to the location to confirm the passerby call-in was in reference to the controlled burn. Upon arrival, fire personnel contacted the landowner who had a controlled burn in progress. The landowner advised that the fire was controlled and the fire department were not needed at the location.

5/1/2023 – DISPATCH: 2:22 AM – CLEARED: 2:43 AM – LEVELLAND

The fire department responded to a beeping smoke detector on the 800 block of Avenue F at approximately 2:20 a.m. The report states fire personnel checked the smoke detector and returned to the station.
