5/28/2023 – DISPATCH 7:57 PM – CLEARED 8:10 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY
The fire department received a call regarding a power pole and power line down near the 800 block of south FM 168, Smyer, Texas. The police department attempted to contact the Smyer Volunteer Fire Department twice with no response and requested the Levelland Fire Department to respond. While enroute, Levelland fire personnel were informed Smyer fire personnel had responded, and they could return to the Levelland Fire Department.
5/27/2023 – DISPATCH 12:32 AM – CLEARED 1:05 AM – LEVELLAND
The fire department received a request to assist with a smoke detector activation. Upon arrival, fire personnel were unable to find smoke or flames present and assisted with resetting the smoke detector.
5/26/2023 – DISPATCH 9:40 PM – CLEARED 10:46 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY
The fire department responded to Sunrise Lane and North Alamo Road regarding reports of lines arching at a substation. Upon arrival, fire personnel found equipment still arching and made contact with Lamb County Electric. The scene was released to Lamb County Electric upon their arrival.
5/26/2023 – DISPATCH 3:38 PM – CLEARED 4:30 PM – LEVELLAND
The fire department received a call regarding a downed power line near the 1400 block of West Washington Street. Fire personnel were informed Excel Energy had been contacted and would be enroute. Upon arrival, fire personnel determined that the line was a communications cable and not an electrical power line. Windstream Communications Company was notified.
5/23/2023 – DISPATCH 4:27 PM – CLEARED 4:38 PM – LEVELLAND
The fire department responded East State Highway 114 and Veretto Road regarding reports of an unknown fire. Upon arrival, fire personnel determined it to be a controlled burn.
5/23/2023 – DISPATCH 4:12 PM – CLEARED 6:22 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY
The fire department was dispatched to a multiple vehicle crash at the intersection of Houston Street and Kelly Road. Upon arrival, fire personnel found two vehicles on their sides and the occupant of one of the vehicles already out. The report states responders worked together to extricate the two occupants out of the other vehicle. After extrication, both occupants were transported to medical facilities. The scene was then turned over to the Department of Public Safety.
5/20/2023 – DISPATCH 7:50 PM – CLEARED 8:10 PM – LEVELLAND
The fire department received a call regarding a natural gas smell near Hickory Street and Detroit Avenue. Upon arrival, fire personnel were unable to locate gas using a gas detector instrument in a large area surrounding the location.
5/19/2023 – DISPATCH 12:06 PM – CLEARED 12:38 PM – LEVELLAND
The fire department received a call regarding a gas meter being stuck by a vehicle in an alley on the 500 block of Double U Drive. The caller advised the gas meter was leaking gas. Upon arrival, fire personnel found a vehicle with minor damage several feet from the gas meter. A second person on the scene stated he was a plumber working on a separate area near the location and stated he closed the gas meter valve before the fire departments arrival. Atmos Energy was contacted and due to no further gas leaking or hazards the gas meter was secured with an Atmos Energy lock. The driver of the vehicle stated they did not sustain any injuries.

The police department informed the fire department of a fire alarm on the 3600 block of Quail Road. The report states dispatch had attempted to contact Smyer Fire twice with no response. Fire personnel were enroute to the location when they were told to return to the station.
5/17/2023 – DISPATCH 3:00 PM – CLEARED 3:30 PM – LEVELLAND
The fire department received reports of smoke in a residence on the 400 block of Clubview Drive. Upon arrival, there was no smoke showing. Fire personnel checked the house for any signs of heat before returning to the station.
5/16/2023 - DISPATCH 6:53 PM – CLEARED 8:15 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY
The fire department received reports of a grass fire near the intersection of America Road and Cheyenne Road. Fire personnel extinguished the fire.
5/16/2023 - DISPATCH 2:08 PM – CLEARED 3:00 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY
The fire department was dispatched to the 300 North FM 303 regarding a structure fire at an old school in Petit. Upon arrival, trash piles were burning along with a partial wall. Fire personnel extinguished the fire.
5/16/2023 – DISPATCH 7:49 AM – CLEARED 8:05 AM – LEVELLAND
The fire department received a call reporting a dumpster fire on the 100 block of College Avenue. Upon arrival, the dumpster was smoking due to hot coals being put in the dumpster. The report states the fire department has responded to the same location for hot coals being put in the dumpster before and had previously informed the owners this was not allowed. No one was at the scene at the time of the incident. Fire personnel extinguished the coals before returning to the station.
5/15/2023 – DISPATCH 7:05 AM – CLEARED 7:20 AM – LEVELLAND
The police department requested assistance with gaining entry to a vehicle at the Levelland Post Office. Fire personnel responded to the location and assisted officers with gaining entry to the vehicle.
5/14/2023 – DISPATCH 9:06 PM – CLEARED 9:30 PM – LEVELLAND
The fire department was dispatched to the 100 block of Oak Street in reference to a gas leak. Fire personnel contacted Atmos Energy while enroute to the location. Upon arrival, fire personnel shut off the gas and locked out the meter. Atmos Energy advised the estimated time of arrival would be 45 minutes.
5/14/2023 – DISPATCH 3:40 PM – CLEARED 4:27 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY
The fire department responded to the intersection of N Barton Lane and E State Highway 114 regarding a vehicle fire. The report states a citizen stopped and used a fire extinguisher before fire personnel arrived. Upon arrival, fire personnel sprayed down the hot and smoldering parts on the vehicle before clearing the scene.
5/13/2023 – DISPATCH 2:18 PM – CLEARED 3:08 PM – HOCKLEYCOUNTY
The fire department was dispatched to Wright Collision on the 2400 block of E State Highway 114 regarding a vehicle fire. Upon arrival, a vehicle’s engine compartment was fully engulfed. Fire personnel extinguished the fire and returned to the station.

The police department requested traffic control at the intersection of E State Highway 114 and N College Avenue.
