Levelland Fire Report

12/27/2023 - DISPATCHED 7:05 A.M. - CLEARED 7:17 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD was contacted for a possible gas leak that was caused by a vehicle that struck a line near a business on West Avenue. Fire personnel investigated the leak and turned off the gas until Atmos could arrive on scene.

12/27/2023 - DISPATCHED 3:39 A.M. - CLEARED 3:58 A.M. LEVELLAND An LFD crew was dispatched to a residence located within the 2000 block of Longhorn Drive to assist Levelland EMS and Levelland PD to make entry into the residence. Upon arrival, the LFD was notified that entry into the residence was made and the call was canceled.

12/26/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:45 P.M. - CLEARED 12:55 P.M.-LEVELLAND

An LFD crew was dispatched to a residence located in the 200 block of Redwood Lane in reference to assisting the LPD making entry into the home for a wellfare check. Upon arrival, Levelland EMS and LPD were able to gain entry into the residence and the call was canceled.

12/26/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:41 P.M. - CLEARED 1:48 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD was dispatched to the 300 block of Birch Avenue in reference to a fire alarm going off in a residence. Upon arrival, the alarm was categorized as unintentional and the scene was cleared.

12/26/2023 - DISPATCHED 3:53 P.M. - CLEARED 4:15 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD responded to a mutual aid call near the 6300 block of Foster Road and were canceled while enroute.

12/23/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:41 P.M. - CLEARED 1 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD was dispatched to the 1800 block of Austin Street in reference to a control burn that had gotten outside of the pit. Upon arrival, there was a small tree smoldering. Fire personnel worked to extinguish the smoldering tree and objects in the pit.

12/22/2023 - DISPATCHED 4:09 P.M. - CLEARED 4:35 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY An LFD crew were dispatched to U.S. Highway 84 and N. FM 2130 in reference to multiple fire spots. The crew was canceled while enroute.

12/22/2023 - DISPATCHED 12:25 P.M. - CLEARED 1:15 P.M. -HOCKLEYCOUNTY

An LFD crew was dispatched to the 2800 block of E. Highway 114 in reference to a grass fire in the area. With reports stating an unknown type fire being visible northeast of Smith South Plains Ford, fire crew were able to spot smoke while enroute. The crew worked to extinguish the fire and any visible signs of rekindle. The LFD sweeped the area multiple times before returning to the station.

12/19/2023 - DISPATCHED 9:49 A.M. - CLEARED 11:49 P.M. -LEVELLAND

The LFD was dispatched to the 2000 block of Harvard in regard to a gas leak in an alley. Upon arrival, fire personnel remained on standby until the leak was contained. 12/19/2022 - DISPATCHED 5:51 P.M. -CLEARED6:15P.M.-LEVELLAND

The LFD responded to a fire alarm at a residence located near the 2000 block of Rice Drive. Upon arrival, fire personnel was canceled by the alarm company stating the alarm was accidental.

12/19/2023 - DISPATCHED 11:15 A.M. - CLEARED 11:40 A.M.-HOCKLEYCOUNTY

The LFD received a call regarding a strong gas odor near the area of the 1600 block of Cactus. Upon arrival, fire crews did not find any leaks or spills in the area.

12/16/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:03 P.M. - CLEARED 4:17 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received multiple calls in reference to a large grass fire near the intersection of Highway 114 and FM 303. Multiple fire units responded to the location near the 3300 block of W. Highway 114 and found a grass fire on the south side of the highway with a residence located east of the fire. An additional alarm was sounded for more personnel to the location. The Levelland Fire Incident Commander requested mutual aid from the Whiteface Volunteer Fire Department, Morton Volunteer Fire Department and Sundown Volunteer Fire Department. Levelland and Hockley County Emergency Management also responded to the scene. During fire suppression, the Texas Department of Transportation was also requested due to smoke reducing visibility across the highway. While the fire was contained on the east side nearest the residence, additional mutual aid was requested from Hockley County and a maintainer was sent to the location. Once a fire break was established, the fire was contained within the fire break and the remaining hot spots were extinguished.

12/15/2023 - DISPATCHED 11:55 P.M. - CLEARED 1:34 A.M. -LEVELLAND

Dispatch received a call of smoke in the attic of a residence located in the 300 block of Austin Street. Upon arrival, LFD crews observed visible smoke and fire personnel made entry into the residence. Very light smoke was located on the main floor of the house fire. Personnel checked the attic crawl space where fire and smoke were located. Following the fire being knocked down, crews began a salvage operation with sheet rock and other material being removed from around the area of origin. Any remaining fire threat was then extinguished before returning to the station.

12/15/2023 - DISPATCHED 11:40 A.M. - CLEARED 12:05 P.M.-HOCKLEYCOUNTY

LFD crews responded to a call of a cotton module on fire near Nightingale Road and Elk Road. Upon arrival, the fire was located as the module was isolated due to fields being wet to drive on. The module was left to burn.

12/11/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:31 A.M. - CLEARED 1:58 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY LFD personnel were dispatched to a small grass fire on the east side of the road just past the Broken Spur Event Center. Units located the near the intersection of Highway 385 and Delaware Road. Mostly extinguished upon arrival, fire personnel completed the extinguishing of the fire and focused on various hot spots before returning to the station.

12/9/2023 - DISPATCHED 4:23 P.M. - CLEARED 4:33 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call of a truck hitting a gas meter behind a business located at the 500 block of Highway 114. Upon arrival, there was no truck in the area and fire personnel checked the gas meters in the area and verified all were operating in working condition. Crews spoke with an employee of the business and were informed that a truck door hit the gas meter but no damage occurred.
