The LFD received a call reporting the smell of smoke or something burning at a residence located 100 block of Mandy Circle. Upon arrival, fire personnel discovered the breaker panel to be shorting out. The resident was advised to contact an electrician before turning the power back on to the home.
1/28/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:03 A.M. - CLEARED 10:55 A.M. -LEVELLAND
Dispatch advised that a homeowner located in the 1000 block of 10th Street was smelling smoke from a unknown source. Fire personnel responded to the residence and searched the area. After making entry into the attic area, the blower motor of the heating system was reaching 350 degrees. The thermostat was turned off from the hallway and the temperature of the blower motor went down. The homeowner was advised to leave the unit off until a licensed HVAC company could address the issue.
1/25/2024 - DISPATCHED 8:31 P.M. - CLEARED 8:51 P.M. LEVELLAND
The LFD received a call referencing smoke at a residence located in the 800 block of Avenue F. Upon arrival, fire personnel found the cause to be something that had become burnt while cooking. The fan was turned on to ventilate the house and clear out the smoke.
1/25/2024 - DISPATCHED 3:12 P.M. - 4:44 P.M. - HOCKLEY COUNTY
LFD personnel were dispatched to a structure fire located in the 500 block of FM 1294. Upon arrival, residents had extinguished the fire. The crew on scene checked the area for remaining hot spots before leaving the scene.
1/22/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:04 P.M. - CLEARED 12:20 P.M. -LEVELLAND
The LFD received a call in reference to smoke coming from a shed located in the backyard of a residence within the 100 block of Cactus. Upon arrival, LPD officers advised that an occupant at the residence was attempting to keep warm by burning a log inside the shed. The occupant had extinguished the burning log prior to LFD arrival. No damages were noted to the shed and no injuries were reported.

The LFD received a report of a structure fie in the rear of a residence located within the 200 block of Austin Street. A fire unit extinguished the fire before returning to service.
1/18/2024 - DISPATCHED 5:22 P.M. - CLEARED 5:57 P.M. LEVELLAND
An LFD unit was dispatched to a motor vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 114 and House Street. Upon arrival, everyone was out and being treated by Levelland EMS. Fire personnel were advised to help with traffic control until TxDOT arrived.
1/16/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:19 P.M. - CLEARED 10:35 P.M. -LEVELLAND
The LFD received a call from the LPD stating that Atmos Energy requested their assistance by for a gas leak located near S. College Avenue and Oak Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel were released from the scene as Atmos stated there was no gas leak identified.
1/15/2024 - DISPATCHED 3:23 P.M. - CLEARED 3:50 P.M. LEVELLAND
The LFD responded to the 300 block of Brentwood for a carbon monoxide detector activation. Upon arrival, there was no carbon monoxide detected. Fire personnel checked the residence at discovered that the batteries needed to be replaced. The batteries were changed and the detector was operating properly.
1/12/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:59 P.M. - CLEARED 11:25 P.M. -LEVELLAND
The LFD received a call in regard to a burning smell at a residence located near the 400 block of N. Cedar Avenue After making contact with the occupant the residence was checked and everything was cleared.
1/12/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:44 P.M. - CLEARED 1:35 P.M. LEVELLAND
The LFD assisted with silencing and resetting a fire alarm after a drill near the 700 block of E. Highway 114. It was determined that a pull station was damaged causing the system to not reset. Fire personnel advised the manager on shift to contact the alarm company and to send a representative out to fix the issue. The LFD reset the alarm and advised the manager to provide fire watch until someone came out and fixed their pull station.
1/10/2024 – DISPATCHED 2:12 P.M. – CLEARED 2:35 P.M. – LEVELLAND
The LFD received a call of an alarm going off at a residence located within the 200 block of Tanglewood Lane. Upon arrival, it was determined to be a false alarm. The resident was advised to contact the alarm company to have a technician look at the faulty alarm.
1/10/2024 – DISPATCHED 8:40 A.M. – CLEARED 9:10 A.M. – LEVELLAND
The LFD was notified of a dryer that was smoking in the 200 block of Maple Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel found no smoke but there was a burning smell. A thermal imager showed no dangerous heat signs.
1/10/2024 – DISTPATCHED 2:19 A.M. – CLEARED 4:34 A.M. –LEVELLAND
The LFD received a report from dispatch of a fire in the lab at Covenant Levelland. Upon arrival, no smoke was showing from the building. A light smoke was coming from the lab vent. It was discovered that an ac unit motor had seized up causing the smoke. The unit power was shut off for maintenance.
1/9/2024 – DISPATCHED 12:04 P.M. – CLEARED 12:25 P.M. –LEVELLAND
The LFD received a call in reference to a parent locked out of a running vehicle with two infants locked inside at the 1900 block of S. College Avenue. Entry was eventually made and no medical attention was needed for the children.
1/7/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:05 P.M. - CLEARED 2:15 P.M. LEVELLAND
The LFD received a call from LPD stating that a resident within the 100 block of Flint Avenue heard the stove clicking and ran outside. A small crew went to the home and unplugged the stove and advised the homeowner to have the appliance checked before using it again.
1/3/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:08 A.M. - CLEARED 4:52 A.M. ROPESVILLE
The HCSO requested LFD units to assist in a semi versus cow motor vehicle accident near Highway 82 and Foster Road. LFD contacted Smyer FD while enroute as there were multiple animals that had been struck by two semi units. One truck was leaking fuel and fire personnel controlled the spill until TxDOT arrived on scene. All fire units remained on scene until DPS no longer needed assistance.
1/2/2024 - DISPATCHED 11:46 A.M. - CLEARED 2:39 P.M. SMYER
Levelland EMS requested LFD units to respond to a major motor vehicle accident near Highway 114 and S. FM 168. Upon arrival, two vehicles were located, one on the shoulder and the second in the median. Fire personnel assisted EMS with medical duties along with extrication of victims. Units remained on scene until they were cleared by DPS.
1/1/24 - DISPATCHED 6:40 P.M. - CLEARED 6:50 P.M. LEVELLAND
Dispatch advised the LFD of a resident seeing smoke in the area of the 1500 block of 11th Street. Upon arrival, fire personnel found an individual burning in their backyard. The individual was asked to put out the fire due to the ordinance.
