Levelland Fire Report

3/25/2024 - DISPATCHED 7:30 A.M. - CLEARED 7:50 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call in reference to a possible downed power line in a tree located in the 500 block of 17th Street. Upon arrival, the crew found a tree that had fallen on a cable or telephone line. The utility company was notified before clearing the area.

3/24/2024 - DISPATCHED 5:19 P.M. - CLEARED 11 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD was dispatched to a mutual aid request from the Littlefield Fire Department. Crews began extinguishing the fire and preventing fires from jumping. After several hours, the fire was contained and Levelland units were released from the scene.

3/24/2024 - DISPATCHED 5:02 P.M. - CLEARED 5:10 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call in reference to a possible downed power line near the intersection of Cherry Street and Cedar Avenue. The crew responding to the call found an old telephone line hanging from a pole. LPD dispatch notified the communications company before clearing the scene.

3/24/2024 - DISPATCHED 3:10 P.M. - CLEARED 4:22 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a power line arching in the 100 block of San Jacinto Drive. The responding unit found the power line arching near a tree behind a residence. Fire personnel remained on scene until Xcel crews arrived.

3/21/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:07 P.M. - CLEARED 10:20 P.M. -LEVELLAND

The LFD received a call in reference to a child locked in a vehicle located at a residence within the 500 block of West Adams. Fire personnel removed the child from the vehicle without incident.

3/21/2024 - DISPATCHED 3:17 P.M. - CLEARED 3:47 P.M. LEVELLAND An LFD crew was dispatched to assist Levelland EMS with picking up a patient in the 200 block of Magnolia Street. Once on scene, the crew assisted EMS with loading the patient.

3/21/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:38 P.M. - CLEARED 2:27 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD was advised of multiple spot fire along E. Highway 114. Fire units arrived on scene and extinguished the area fires.

3/20/2024 - DISPATCHED 10:57 A.M. - CLEARED 11:13 A.M. -LEVELLAND

A homeowner in the 1600 block of 9th Street contacted the LFD a CO2 home check. A unit responded to the residence and checked the home. No issue was found.

3/16/2024 - DISPATCHED - 6:22 P.M. - CLEARED 6:31 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD was dispatched to a fire alarm call in the 100 block of Hickory. Fire personnel attempted to make contact with the homeowner. Upon arrival, the homeowner advised the alarm was accidentally activated.

3/13/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:19 P.M. - CLEARED 12:35 P.M. -LEVELLAND

A fire alarm was call was made at the South Plains College Science Building. Upon arrival, fire personnel found the college to be testing their alarm systems.

3/13/2024 - DISPATCHED 6:57 A.M. - CLEARED 9:40 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a vehicle leaking fuel near the intersection of 10th Street and Avenue H. Fire personnel discovered the vehicle leaking hydraulic fluid and gasoline. Fire fighters and city workers dealt with the fluids and stopped it from reaching the storm drain.

3/12/2024 - DISPATCHED 7:37 P.M. - CLEARED 7:50 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD responded to an unauthorized burning in the 1800 block of McKinley Street. Fire personnel made contact with the owner and advised burning within city limits is illegal. The fire was extinguished before leaving the scene.

3/12/2024 - DISPATCHED 5:02 P.M. - CLEARED 6:12 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY A crew was dispatched to the 5100 block of Cactus in regard to a small grass fire. Fire personnel discovered a fire in a pit and attempted to contact someone. After failed attempts, the fire was extinguished.

3/12/2024 - DISPATCHED 8:45 A.M. - CLEARED 9:01 A.M. LEVELLAND Dispatch reported smoke coming from a seat in a car in the 100 block of 11th Street. Fire personnel discovered the motor that controls the power seats had possibly shorted out and overheated. The owner was advised to disconnect the battery and get the motor replaced.

3/11/2024 - DISPATCHED 5:53 P.M. - CLEARED 6:15 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a report of a backyard fire in the 200 block of Sandalwood Street. Upon arrival, the fire was extinguished, but fire personnel wet down the area before returning to the station.

3/9/2024 - DISPATCHED 7:07 P.M. - CLEARED 7:12 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a call in reference to an oil well fire in the 3200 block of W. Highway 114. While enroute, the unit was canceled as it was discovered the fire was a controlled burn and fire personnel were not needed.

3/7/2024 - DISPATCHED 7:21 P.M. - CLEARED 7:36 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call in regard to a fire in the backyard of the residence located in the 200 block of Avenue D. The occupant of the residence was informed of the city ordinance and burning within city limits. The fire was extinguished.

3/7/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:27 P.M. - CLEARED 12:50 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call reporting a gas leak in a residence located in the 100 block of Sandalwood. Fire personnel had no alerts using a gas monitor in the residence. Atmos arrived to the residence and advised the smell was oilfield gas moving through the area.

3/6/2024 - DISPATCHED 4:40 P.M. - CLEARED 5:16 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD was dispatched to the intersection of FM 300 and Gusher Road in reference to a grass fire. The fire was out prior to the arrival of fire personnel but the group focused on hot spots before returning to the station.

3/6/2024 - DISPATCHED 4:47 A.M. - CLEARED 5:21 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD was notified of a small building fire in the 1600 block of Austin Street. Upon arrival, the homeowner had moved a burning item outside the home. The fire was located in a hot water heater closet. Fire personnel removed the drywall and cabinets before extinguishing the fire. The home was ventilated and checked for heat signatures before returning to the station.

3/4/2024 - DISPATCHED 11:38 P.M. - CLEARED 12 A.M. LEVELLAND The LFD received a call regarding a stove sparking in a residence located at the 1600 block of 9th Street. Fire personnel found a 220 electrical plug to be out of the wall with spark and burn marks around the plug and floor. The crew was unable to identify which breaker controlled the stove resulting in the power of the entire home being turned off. The resident relocated for the time being by staying with family. Fire personnel advised the individual to contact the landlord in the morning and get an electrician to make repairs.

3/4/2024 - DISPATCHED 12:47 P.M. - CLEARED 2:30 P.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a call regarding a grass fire north of Levelland. While enroute, the fire was discovered to be in Lamb County and Littlefield Fire Department was requesting assistance as it was a large grass fire. LFD responded and assisted Littlefield with extinguishing the fire.

3/1/2024 - DISPATCHED 2:52 P.M. - CLEARED 3:10 P.M. LEVELLAND The LFD responded to a residence located in the 2000 block of Tech Drive after a homeowner informed the department their neighbor was burning something in their backyard and the smoke was crossing into their home. Fire personnel found the resident burning in a approved container but the fire was put out due to the complaints of smoke in the neighbors houses.

3/1/2024 - DISPATCHED 7:29 A.M. - CLEARED 9:15 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY The LFD received a call in reference to a motor vehicle accident with occupant entrapment near Highway 114 and Barton Lane. Fire personnel found three vehicles involved with one vehicle on its side with an occupant still inside the vehicle. Occupants from the other vehicles self-extricated and were ambulatory. The vehicle on its side was stabilized before the windshield was removed and cuts were made with the hydraulic cutters. The LFD assisted Levelland EMS with removing the occupant and also assisted with traffic control.
