Lobo Sled Hill faces temperature problems

The community is currently at the mercy of mother nature as the yearly sled hill at Lobo Hill during the winter season is in question.

The City of Levelland Parks Department has put together a yearly sled hill activity for the community that usually spans a couple of days.

Parks Directory Dustin Reichelt has explained in the past that these events put together by the department are focused on providing a quality of life aspect that not only the community can enjoy, but individuals outside of the community can come experience when in Levelland.

What would be the fourth season of the sled hill, temperatures have not stayed cold enough for a solid amount of time.

It was explained that the department typically needs 12 to 16 hours minimum below 28 degrees Fahrenheit to make enough snow to cover the hill. “We are having to mix in a little science and follow weather charts to pick and choose when we are able to get it done,” said Reichelt.

The department will continue to monitor the temperatures through the remaining winter in hopes of bringing the community their fourth sled hill. Updates will be made available through the City of Levelland Facebook Page.
