Following the conclusion of the 2024 Local Elections on Saturday, the Hockley County Elections Office and Cochran County Elections Office have released their results.
In the City of Levelland Election, the mayoral race was between current councilwomen and Mayor Pro-Tem Breann Buxkemeper and former councilwoman Mary Engledow.
Buxkemper defeated Engldow, 659 votes to 435 votes and will be sworn into the position once the council canvasses the results.
In the Ropes ISD Election, Blake Thrash took the top spot at 144 votes with Donnie Halpain winning seat number two at 119 votes. Seat number three goes to Chad Partington with 113 votes. Finishing out of the race were Jeremy Blair with 107, and Kasey Davis with 39 votes.
In the Smyer ISD Election, Bryan Fowler won a seat with 90 votes, Brad Locke finished second with 71 votes and Doc Pearce finished third with 64 votes. Paul Zapata and Austin Brown did not secure seats, finishing with 53 and 20 votes respectively.
In the City of Sundown Election, community members voted in favor of reauthorizing the street maintenance sales tax with 52 votes in favor and five votes against.
The election for South Plains College Board of Regents Position Six was retained by incumbent Joe Tubb defeating Rob Martin 759-to-391.
Voters can look forward to the Republican Primary runoff for Hockley County as it is scheduled for May 28.
The ballot features a runoff for Hockley County Sheriff between Jared Dockery and Chris Wischkaemper and for Hockley County Commissioner Precinct One between incumbent Alan Wisdom and challenger Curtis Thrash.
