MainStreet continues Facade Grant

The Levelland Main Street Façade Grant Program focuses on the revitalization of exterior buildings in the downtown district.

According to Main Street manager Tania Moody, the grant application deadline is March 1, 2023.

“This program is to promote the beautification and improvement of the commercial buildings in the historic downtown” Moody said. “It is a grant that consists of a dollar-todollar match up to $2,000.”

The Main Street program has a budget of $12,000 to reimburse commercial building owners for 2023.

There are four main parts to the program. The organization aspect is focused on staying true to the downtown vision and awards honoring individual people and businesses.

The design aspect is focused on the beautification of downtown. The economic vitality aspect is focused on fundraising for downtown and the promotions aspect is focused on hosting events to make the community aware of the options downtown.

“Those are kind of the four branches that make up the Main Street program and it all focuses and centers around the economic development and impact,” Moody said. “So, it continues to grow and thrive and prosper and also ripple out to making the city of Levelland and the County of Hockley more successful and more viable.”

Even though the Main Street program is under the city, Moody explained that the money raised is specifically used to facilitate downtown improvements.

These improvements can include new planters, murals, mosaics, handrails, pocket parks and other things that can enhance and revitalize downtown.

There will be a community clean up April 1 hosted side by side with Keep Levelland Beautiful and the Main Street program.

“It’s open to anyone who would like to be a part of helping to revitalize downtown,” Moody said.
