According to the Levelland Police Department, a 20-year-old female resident of Levelland was arrested Monday, July 15 following a vehicle pursuit through the City of Levelland.
Around 9:50 p.m., an officer initiated a motor vehicle stop in the 800 block of West Avenue for a traffic violation. The driver of a 2017 GMC Sierra did not stop and fled from the officer.
A vehicle pursuit began from the west side of the city in residential areas to the east of Levelland. The fleeing vehicle proceeded through the South Plains College campus and ultimately collided with private property landscape near the 500 block of A&M Lane. The driver proceeded to flee on foot but was immediately apprehended by officers without further incident.
The driver was charged with evading arrest or detention with a motor vehicle, resisting arrest, search, or transport, and possession of marijuana, less than two ounces.
No major injuries were reported from the event. The private property damage is being investigated separate from the incident as a crash investigation will be accompanying the criminal report.
