One death, two injured following vehicle rollover

According to the Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS), one individual was reported deceased following a single vehicle rollover Saturday morning.

A report issued by DPS stated at 3:52 a.m., a 2015 Dodge Ram 2500 traveling northbound on CR 2800, roughly less than a mile North of CR 5700 when the vehicle entered the east ditch with the passenger side tires. The driver of the vehicle swerved causing the vehicle to enter a skid heading northwest across CR 2800. The vehicle traveled into the west ditch, losing traction and began rolling before coming to a final rest.

The driver of the vehicle was identified as a male 17-year-old from Petersburg and was transported to University Medical Center (UMC) in Lubbock for injuries he sustained during the rollover.

A passenger identified in the rollover was a female 17-year-old from New Deal who was also transported to UMC in Lubbock for injuries sustained in the incident.

A second passenger, Kristi Dawn McWilliams, 44, was pronounced deceased on the scene from injuries sustained during the rollover.

The report states both minors were wearing seatbelts in the incident while the deceased was reported to not be wearing a seatbelt.
