Pep Centennial will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023 at the St. Philip Neri Catholic Church Hall of Pep, Texas. Mass will begin at 10:00 a.m. with Bishop Robert M. Coerver officiating and Reverend Jonathan Philips assisting.
There will also be a veteran and family tree display. Recipe books will be on sale along with the Pep history book that can be preordered. A silent auction will take place throughout the day , all items are welcome. The only forms of payment accepted will be cash or check no debit/credit cards will be accepted.
A meal consisting of hamburger and hotdogs with all the trimmings including chips, drink and dessert will be served at noon.
Tania Moody, Levelland Main Street Manager, has attained a Mosaic for Pep which will be installed in one of the handrails on the Hockley County courthouse square. The mosaic is a buffalo (Pep’s school mascot). Between 1 and 1:30 the Mosaic will be presented to Pep by Sharla Baldridge, Hockley County Judge. Sharla is part of the Sokora family from Pep.
Elissa Stroman, PHD, Oral History Assistant Archivist and her supervisor Tai Kreider will both be attending our celebration. They will have handouts and information on their oral history program. They plan on recording those who have traveled a distantance to attend that day. Those who are local will have an opportunity to be recorded at a later.date.
