RAINBOW TROUT

RAINBOW TROUT - The City of Levelland Parks Department provided an early holiday present for community fishers by stocking 500 pounds of Rainbow Trout in Lobo Lake Monday afternoon to begin the 2023-24 trout season. The trout brought in this week was in partnership with Parker Trout Farm in Sacramento, N.M. The trout average from one pound to a pound-and-a-half with about the average length being 12 inches. Texas Parks and Wildlife will also be stocking Lobo and Brasher Lakes December 1 with Rainbow Trout. This stocking will include 1,200 fish in each lake, which is a yearly event. The fish brought in by the state average nine to 10 inches. Parks and Cemetery Directory Dustin Reichelt explained that the increasing number of community fishers is what prompted him to increase the number of fish being stocked in the lakes. “We want people within the community to continue enjoying their fishing experience at the lakes and providing more fish will allow everyone to continue to have fun,” said Reichelt.
