Following the South Fork and Salt wildfires that burned through the New Mexico towns of Ruidoso, Alto, and Mescalero; The Flying J Ranch and Lubbock Christian University (LCU) collaborated to host a relief concert in Lubbock on July 1.
The Ruidoso Wildfire Relief Concert featured the Flying J Wranglers, of Ruidoso, and benefited The Community Foundation of Lincoln County (CFOLC), a local nonprofit which supports those directly impacted by area disasters.
Between ticket sale contributions, online donations, and cash donations collected in old west cowboy coffee cans, the event generated more than $35,000 for The CFOLC Shelter Fund.
These donations will directly benefit residents whose homes were destroyed during the recent wildfires and flooding emergencies. Donations can still be made to the CFOLC Shelter Fund through their website at www.cfolc.org.
The Flying J Ranch, a family owned business which has been in operation in Ruidoso since 1982, expressed their overwhelming thanks and gratitude to all of the benefactors, volunteers, and media outlets that made the event possible.
James and Cindy Hobbs, the owners and operators of the Flying J Ranch, would also shared an abundant and heartfelt thank you to the students and staff of LCU, especially Warren McNeill and Lisa Frase, without whom this outpouring of generosity and warmth would not have been possible.
