The Smyer High School Lady Cats volleyball team volunteered their at Ronald McDonald House in Lubbock to cook and serve dinner for families who going through difficult times with hospitalized children, embodying community service and teamwork off the court. A 15-year-old fellow student at Smyer is battling cancer after being diagnosed this past April as the school and community step to offer support. UMC financial department reportedly gave inaccurate information about his care plan and insurance will no longer cover the lifesaving treatments needed. A GoFundMe has been set up to help raise the funds expenses and travel for treatment in Dallas.
