TEXAS BLUEBONNET AWARD--

TEXAS BLUEBONNET AWARD-- The Texas Bluebonnet Award is one of the oldest and most prestigious children’s choice literary awards in the country. A total of 63,331 students, all in third through sixth grade will vote this year on the book of their choice. Each voter had to read at least five books from the 2022-2023 Texas Bluebonnet Award Master List in order to vote and Levelland Intermediate School Librarian Abi Swain made sure all her Levelland Intermediate School students did just that! Each year Mrs. Swain participates in the Bluebonnet Program to promote reading among her students and to teach them the democratic process of having a voting voice. This year at Levelland Intermediate School, the winning book was Swish! The Slam-Dunking, Alley-Ooping, High-Flying Harlem Globetrotters by Suzanne Slade. In February the Texas Bluebonnet Committee will announce which book won the campaign and then Mrs. Swain will meet the author of the winning book in April at the Texas Library Convention! “What a fun way to always read new books! Thank you to Mrs. Swain!” said, Cristal Isaacks, LISD Public Information Officer. Shown voting is: Levelland Intermediate School 5th grader Olivia Ramirez. Whose parents are Enoc & Nikki Ramirez
