Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar announced he will be sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.1 billion in local sales tax allocations for July, 7.5% more than in July 2022.
The allocations are based on sales made in May by businesses that report tax monthly.
Sales tax allocation comparison summary reports present data on monthly local sales and use tax payments to local jurisdictions. These payments represent funds identified for local jurisdictions since the previous month’s distribution. When used with other local indicators, these reports may help indicate present and future economic trends.
For July 2023 allocations, cities totaled $697.5 million which is a 6.4% increase from July 2022 and a 6.3% increase in the yearto- date change. Transit systems totaled $236.4 million, which is a 7.3% increase from July 2022 and a 6.8% increase in the year-todate change. Counties totaled $68.5 million, which is a 11% increase from July 2022 and a 12.4% increase in the year-to-date change. Special purpose districts totaled $105.4 million, which is a 13.9% increase from July 2022 and a 13.9% increase in the year-todate change. The City of Levelland has reached a net payment of $434,170.49 for this current payment compared to $406,048.15 last year at this point in time with a 6.92% change. The year-to-date payment has totaled $2,942,371.81 compared to the year-to-date payment of $2,584,570.73 last year which is a 13.84% increase.
The City of Sundown has reached a net payment of $64,549.69 for this period, which is a 36.71% increase compared to the prior year at this point in time with a total of $47,216.22. The current year-to-date payment has totaled $326,767.59, which is a 15.33% increase compared to last years year-to-date payment of $285,325.93.
The City of Smyer has reached a net payment for this current period with a total of $5,121. The current year-to-date payment has totaled $36,352.95.
The City of Anton reached a net payment for this current period with a total of $7,744.05, which is a 9.57% increase of last years comparable payment of $7,067.23. The current year-todate payment totaled $63,444.11, which is a 17.71% increase from the prior year-to-date payment of $53,896.25.
The City of Ropesville reached a current net payment total of $9,459.03, which is a 3.86% increase compared to last years net payment of $9,107.12. The current year-to-date payment totaled $81,538.58, which is a 16.02% increase compared to last years payment of $70,278.41.
Opdyke West reached a current net payment with a total of $368.02, which is a 10.34% increase from last years payment of $333.53. The current year-todate payment has totaled $2,659.38, which is a 18.21% decrease from last years payment of $3,251.85.
For Cochran County, the City of Morton reached a net payment that totaled $10,779.16, which is a 7.78% decrease from last years payment of $11,688.86. The current year-to-date payment has reached $90,195.57 which is still a 14.91% increase compared to last years payment of $78,491.78.
The City of Whiteface has reached a net payment of $2,612.91, which is a 10.57% increase compared to last years payment of $2,362.99. The current year-to-date payment has totaled $19,978.52, which is a 3.9% increase compared to last years payment of $19,226.78.
