Texas comptroller sends local sales tax allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar sent cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.3 billion in local sales tax allocations for February, 1.6% more than in February 2023.

These allocations are based on sales made in December by businesses that report tax monthly; October, November and December sales by quarterly filers; and 2023 sales by businesses that report tax annually.

Cities received $861 million for February 2024 allocations which is a 0.6% increase from February 2023.

Transit Systems received $293.4 million for February 2024 allocations which is a 4.5% increase from February 2023.

Counties received $79.4 million for February 2024 allocations which is a 1.1% increase from February 2023.

Special Purpose Districts received $125.2 million for February 2024 allocations which is a 3.5% increase from February 2023.

The February sales tax payment received for Levelland totaled $452,309.41, a decrease of 4.59% over the $474,077.08 received in February 2023.

The February sales tax payment received for Sundown totaled $35,870.66, a decrease of 31.03% over the $52,010.62 received in February 2023.

The February sales tax payment received for Smyer totaled $5,864.89, a 4.29% decrease of the $6,127.92 received in February 2023.

The February sales tax payment received for Ropesville totaled $12,625.26, a 6.60% increase of the $12,502.61 received in February 2023.

The February sales tax payment received for Anton totaled $11,239.44, a 6.71% increase of the $10,532.29 received in February 2023.

The February sales tax payment received for Opdyke West totaled $561.20, a 6.60% increase over the $526.41 received in February 2023.

The February sales tax payment received for Morton totaled $14,804.57, a 12.44% increase over the $13,166.39 received in February 2023. The February sales tax payment received for Whiteface totaled $3,250.87, a 18% decrease over the $6,117.56 received in February 2023.
