The Wallace Theater is taking a nostalgic trip back to simpler times when Emmy-winning comedian and playwright Pat Hazell takes the stage for his acclaimed one-man show, The Wonder Bread Years, on Aug. 11.
A longtime favorite of audiences, The Wonder Bread Years is a fast-paced celebration of growing up in the 1960s and 1970s. Through storytelling, relatable humor and shared memories of family road trips, TV dinners, Halloween costumes and neighborhood adventures, Hazell reminds audiences why childhood moments recall life’s best memories.
“I am jazzed up about hitting the boards with my one-man show The Wonder Bread Years in Levelland at the Historic Wallace Theater,” said Hazell. “This show is a family-friendly bullseye for Baby Boomers and a real flashback to a simpler time. It takes us back to the kid’s table, the way back of the station wagon and a time when Klackers and Lawn Jarts ruled the land. Come out and join me for some big laughs before the school year gets started.”
One of the original writers for NBC’s legendary sitcom Seinfeld, Hazell has spent more than three decades entertaining audiences. The Wonder Bread Years has enjoyed a successful national tour and aired on PBS, where Hazell was recognized as “America’s Foremost Pop Culture Anthropologist.”
“One of my favorite sounds at the Wallace is an auditorium filled with laughter! If you missed Jerry Seinfeld’s performance in Lubbock last month, we’re thrilled to offer another opportunity to enjoy the work of one of the creative minds behind one of TV’s most celebrated comedies,” said Wallace Theater Executive Director Alycyn Keeling. “Live performances have a wonderful way of bringing people together, and this show reminds us that stories of growing up, family and community are experiences we all share.”
The event is set for Aug. 11 at 6:30 p.m. Ticket prices range from $35.79 to $62.05 and can be bought at www.wallacetheater.com/ or by calling 806-523-8773. Other upcoming events at the Wallace Theater: July 31- Aug. 2 - Jaws
