EPC to hold Centennial Celebration

The First Evangelical Presbyterian Church (EPC) in Levelland will be celebrating 100 years on Oct. 19.The celebration will feature worship with prayer and song, and a sermon by Rev. Jon Sharp, followed by a fellowship meal and opportunity to reminisce, see photos, visit and laugh.

The Texas A& M Forest Service conducted the first funding meeting for FY 2026 on Oct. 14 and awarded approximately $164 million in grants to Texas volunteer fire departments, which included 558 fire trucks and 321 slipon units through the Rural Volunteer Fire Department Assistance Program (RVFDAP).

The City of Levelland is now utilizing the new “smart” water meters that allow the city to automatically and electronically read meters and solve other issues.Levelland city manager Jame Fisher said the new system should improve service and monitoring overall and provide accurate reading.

City council, LCDC set public meetings for $650K project

The Levelland City Council and Levelland Community Development Corporation (LCDC) have set two separate public hearings to get input from citizens on a proposed $635,000 project for improvements and purchases at Brashear and Lobo lakes, the Pickleball Complex, Oxy Sports Complex and the City Park...
Producers Jacob and Railey Silhan produced the first bale of cotton in Cochran County. Silhan noted that Railey planted the cotton and also stripped the first bale. The cotton bale was produced at Willingham Southwest Cotton Gin Inc. in Morton. Gin manager is Todd Willingham and gin superintendents are Eliseo Salazar Jr. and Cantu Tarango.
