Better Delivery, Better News

The Levelland News-Press is transitioning its semi-weekly print delivery from newspaper carriers to all-mail, General Manager Kimberley A. Young announced. The change, which is effective on Sept. 10, aims to improve delivery reliability and control rising costs associated with delivery staff.

State monthly sales tax allocations

Acting Texas Comptroller Kelly Hancock released the figures for August state sales tax revenue and state revenue totals for fiscal 2025 State sales tax revenue totaled $4.31 billion in August, 7.7 percent more than in August 2024.

Texas unemployment holds at 4.2%

The Texas Workforce Commission in a press release stated that Texas had 14.3 million total nonfarm jobs after adding 8,700 positions over the month of July.Over the year, the state added 232,500 jobs for an annual nonfarm growth rate of 1.6 percent, outpacing the national growth rate by 0.

Levelland ISD features new website SmartSites

Levelland ISD built a new website over the summer. The older website was hosted by Gabbart. ParentSquare purchased that from them, renaming it SmartSites, forcing LISD to make the change.
