SPC Board of Regents appoint Pete Stracener as new regent

During the South Plains College (SPC) Board of Regents meeting for April, Pete Stracener was appointed as the Position Two Board of Regent moving forward.Chairman Mike Box administered the Oath of Office as Stracener’s wife, Cathy, was also in attendance to show her support.
SPC KIDS COLLEGE - There were 371 kindergartners from Levelland ABC, Sundown Elementary, Whitharral Elementary, Smyer Elementary, Whiteface Elementary, New Home Elementary, Anton Elementary, Levelland Christian Elementary and Ropes Elementary that visited the South Plains College Levelland campus for the annual Kids College event on April 11. The kindergartners visited the Texan Dome and other parts of the SPC campus to participate in fun activities. (SPC Photo)

DPS recognizes outstanding Acts of Service during PSC meeting

The Public Safety Commission (PSC), along with Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) Colonel Freeman F. Martin, recognized the service and heroics of several DPS personnel and citizens at the PSC meeting today at DPS Headquarters in Austin.

4/7/25 - 1 P.M. - LEVELLANDThe LFD received a call reported a gas meter that had been struck near the 600 block of Austin. Upon arrival, the meter looked to be hit by a dumpster when the truck was setting it down. A crescent wrench was used to close the gas valve to stop the leak.

4/8/25 - 100 block of Avenue KAn officer was dispatched to the area in reference to an unwanted person. The officer made contact with a subject who was having mental health problems. The subject was released to a family member.
