NFIB Small Business Optimism Index falls during Jan.

The NFIB Small Business Optimism Index fell by 2.3 points in January to 102.8.This is the third consecutive month above the 51-year average of 98. The Uncertainty Index rose 14 points to 100 – the third highest recorded reading – after two months of decline.

DPS rescues four, arrests over 20 during human trafficking operations

The Texas Department of Public Safety (DPS) made over 20 arrests and rescued four victims in human trafficking operations conducted in the Permian Basin throughout the month of January.

Texas active business entries during January

Secretary of State Jane Nelson announced that Texas has 2,964,180 million active business entities.That is a growth of 35,492 since the beginning of the year.The total number includes both businesses incorporated in Texas and out-of-state entities conducting business in the Lone Star State.

Xcel converted station utilized clean natural gas

At the end of 2024, Xcel Energy converted Harrington Station to utilize locally-produced, clean natural gas.The conversion to a natural gas fuel system was made in partnership with the State of Texas in 2020 and will be fully complete in May 2025.
