Thunder on the Plains 18th Annual Car Show approaches

The 18th annual Thunder on the Plains car show will roll into the Levelland City Park on August 16 and 17 as it has in years past, setting a weekend of fun and fundraising for worthwhile causes in the community.“Nothing’s really changed,” said Thunder on the Plains member Cody Poage of the schedule.

Texas Comptroller announces August local sales tax allocations

Texas Comptroller Glenn Hegar recently announced that he would be sending cities, counties, transit systems and special purpose districts $1.2 billion in local sales tax allocations for August, 0.3% less than in August 2023.Cities received $770.3 million in allocations, a 0.

Hockley County approves propossed tax rate

The Hockley County Commissioners’ Court worked through a lengthy agenda Monday morning with the biggest item being the approval of a proposed tax rate for the upcoming year.The court has been working on their proposed budget for the Fiscal Year 2024-2025 throughout multiple budget meetings.
TREE MAINTENANCE- Tree Loving Care was on sight trimming tree limbs around the Hockley County Courthouse lawn on Saturday. A wood chipper was also being used for clearing out the limbs.
