The Hockley County Commissioners’ Court will be holding a regular meeting Monday beginning at 9 a.m. in the Commissioners Courtroom in the Hockley County Courthouse.

HCSO Report

12/8/2023 - HOCKLEY COUNTY Deputies with the HCSO responded to the area of FM 1294 and N. FM 168 in reference to a possible vehicle accident. The complainant reported a black car off the roadway east of FM. 168 and FM 1294 with debris in the roadway.

LPD Report

12/9/2023 - 1900 block of S. College Avenue - 9:40 P.M. An officer with the LPD responded to the Levelland Covenant Emergency Room regarding a suicidal subject. An emergency detention was placed on one individual and was transported to Sunrise Canyon located in Lubbock.

Wallace Theater lighting ceremony

The Wallace Theater is encouraging community members to attend a lighting ceremony December 19. With the recent installation of the new blade sign on the Wallace Theater, the grand reopening in 2024 nears. The ceremony is slated to begin at 6 p.m.

According to the Railroad Commission of Texas (RRC), hydrogen will soon become a vital component in the expansion of the energy industry in Texas, providing greater energy production and further boost the economy with job creation.

12/11/2023 - DISPATCHED 1:31 A.M. - CLEARED 1:58 A.M. HOCKLEYCOUNTY LFD personnel were dispatched to a small grass fire on the east side of the road just past the Broken Spur Event Center. Units located the near the intersection of Highway 385 and Delaware Road.

With the cold and wet weather finally gracing us with its presence, I hope everyone is staying warm and dry to the best of their ability. While I know this weather is not for most, I absolutely enjoy this weather. I always tell people that if I could live in a cold weather climate I would.
