PCCA reports on cotton market

According to the Plains Cotton Cooperative Association (PCCA), February has started off busy for the cotton market, with the crop insurance price discovery period for much of the Southwest beginning on Feb. 1.

Sundown City Council meeting set for Feb. 10

The regular meeting of the Sundown City Council is scheduled for Feb. 10 at 5:30 p.m. at city hall.The council is expected to hear a statement from the mayor regarding appropriate conduct at city council meetings.

Lamb County EC held its Government-in-Action Youth Tour Competition on Feb. 1, with two selected to represent Lamb County and travel to Washington D.C.The 59th annual Government-in-Action Youth Tour in Washington, D.C., is scheduled for June 14-21.

The Hockley County Commissioners’ Court met on Monday for its regular meeting and approved all action items.Commissioners approved the minutes for the Jan. 19 meeting as well as approving monthly bills and claims through Feb. 2 and the cancellation of the Jan.

Local candidates forum set for Feb. 19

South Plains College’s total enrollment in Spring 2026 increased by five percent from last spring.On a daily comparison, Spring 2026 enrollment is at 10,260, while Spring 2025 enrollment reached 9,771.SPC saw a significant increase in the number of dual-credit students enrolled.
