The Morton Indians took on the Iraan Braves for their Bi-District Round of playoffs where the Indians won 85-48, in an offensive shootout.
The start of the game was all Morton as they were able to outscore Iraan 20-6, taking a 14point lead early.
The second quarter of the game was more of the same story as the Indian offense was able to get 18 more points to fall for them while they held the Braves to just nine points, making the score 3815, heading into the halftime break.
The third quarter was the highest scoring quarter for both teams as Morton was still able to outscore Iraan 25-23, extending their lead to 63-38, heading into the final quarter of action.
The fourth quarter Morton put the game away as they were able to get 22 points towards the end of the game while their defense still held the Braves to just 10 points, taking the Bi-District round to keep going in the playoffs.
Leading the Morton Indians in scoring on the night was E.J. Rivas with 25 points, getting nine of his points from lone-range shots. Both A.J. Mendoza and Cade Lyon had 14 points a piece, Tra Holland had 12, Lane Lyon had 11 points, Brayden Villareal had six and Britton Boggs finished with three points on the night.
Morton led the game in rebounds with 26 while the Iraan Braves only had 23 in the contest. Morton was able to force 17 turnovers while they gave the ball up 26 times.
The Indians shot the ball well going for 64% from the field while going 55% from the long-range ball and 57% from the charity stripe.
The Morton Indians progress to 17-14 on the season and they played against the Roscoe Plowboys for the team’s Area Round of playoffs in Lamesa.
