Lobos rebound against Big Spring following Estacado loss

The Levelland Lobos would improve to 2-2 in district play following a win against the Big Spring Steers at home, Wednesday evening.

The Lobos would respond following a difficult 9-4 loss against the Estacado Matadors on Monday.

The Lobos would put together a 6-3 win against the Steers. Lobo Rance Massey would earn the win on the mound after pitching the full seven innings. Massey would allow six hits, three runs, two walks and strikeout six Steers.

In the bottom of the first, Abram Arteaga would put the ball into center field for a double. Massey would follow suit with a double to left field allowing Arteaga to score the first run for the Lobos.

Tobias Gavina would courtesy run for Massey and steal third before Gage Potter would work a walk and reach first base. Potter would steal second while Gavina would steal home to earn the second run for Levelland.

In the bottom of the second, Javier Ruiz would begin the inning with a walk and steal second on the ensuing at bat. With one out, Ruiz would steal third before scoring on a single by Noah Tienda.

Leading 3-2 to begin the bottom of the fourth, Tienda would earn a single with one out. An Arteaga single to right field advanced Tienda to second. Tienda would be caught stealing third but Arteaga would advance to second. A single from Massey would allow Arteaga to score, moving the lead to 4-2.

In the bottom of the fifth, K. Martinez would reach first on an error and work his way to second after an earned walk by RJ Mireles. A single by Kade Pemberton would advance Martinez to third and would eventually score on a sac fly.

Leading 5-3, the last run would be scored in the bottom of the sixth for Levelland. Jeron Salinas would work a walk and advance to second on a wild pitch in the next at bat. A single by Tienda and mishandled by the Steer right fielder would allow Salinas to score.

The Lobos would continue district play traveling to Snyder to take on the Tigers Friday.
