Professional, college football teams make season debut

I have great news for all my fellow football fans. Last week was the final one without a football game all the way until February.

While we’re still a little less than a month away from Friday night lights and college football Saturdays, the NFL preseason kicks off tomorrow.

This Thursday at 7 p.m., the Detroit Lions face off against the Los Angeles Chargers at the Tom Benson Hall of Fame Stadium in Canton, Ohio.

The game will be streamed on NBC and Peacock.

While the Hall of Fame game is the only one this week, all 32 NFL teams will play in preseason matchups next week.

The Dallas Cowboys and Houston Texans both play their first preseason game on August 9.

The Cowboys head to SoFi Stadium to play the Los Angeles Rams at 6 p.m., while the Texans travel to U.S. Bank Stadium to play the Minnesota Vikings at 3 p.m.

The Texans game will be available to watch on NFL Network and the Cowboys game is still to be decided.

It might only be preseason, but it’s a start because any kind of football is better than no football at all.

But, for those of you who have no interest in the NFL preseason games, you can look forward to the week zero slate of college football games on August 23.

It’s a five-game slate with a featured matchup between Kansas State and Iowa State, who will face off at Aviva Stadium in Dublin, Ireland.

The game will be available to watch on ESPN at 11 a.m.

Red Raider fans should keep their eyes peeled on this one as it could have early implications on the Big 12 Conference Championship race.

Other week zero matchups include Kansas vs. Fresno State at 5:30pm on FOX, Hawai’i vs. Stanford at 6:30pm on CBS, Western Kentucky vs. Sam Houston at 6 p.m. on CBS Sports Network and UNLV vs. Idaho State at 4 p.m. on Mountain West Network.

But, if you simply just want to tune in when everything is officially underway, I get it.

You’ll just have to wait until August 28-September 1 for week one of high school and college football, or September 4-8 for week one of the NFL.
