The Levelland Hockley County News-Press 2025 Football Contest begins this month with $725 worth of prizes on the line.
For 10 weeks, the Football Contest will consist of 20 games weekly across high school, college and professional football, along with a tiebreaker guessing the total score of the selected game that week.
Starting on August 24, the games will be numbered one through 20 and listed throughout the pages of the newspaper in advertisements.
Each week contestants will pick their winners in the 20 matchups and a tiebreaker total score and fill them out on their entry form and then submit them.
Entry into the Football Contest is free and open to everyone except for the Levelland News-Press staff. Contestants will be limited to one entry per week.
Entry forms can either be mailed to Levelland News-Press, PO Drawer 1628, Levelland, dropped off in person at the Levelland News-Press office at 711 Austin St, Levelland, or emailed in the form of a clear photo to sports@levellandnews.net.
They must be submitted by 4:30pm on the Friday preceding the games.
Records will be tallied weekly based on correct picks and tiebreakers, if needed.
If a game is cancelled or postponed, weekly records will be determined from the remaining slate of the games that will be played.
The results of the weekly winners and season leader updates will be posted from weekto- week in the News-Press Wednesday edition, but no prizes will be awarded until the conclusion of the 10 weeks.
At the end of the Football Contest the top three overall records across the 10-week span will be awarded prizes.
The prize amounts for the winning top three are: 1st Place $350, 2nd Place - $250 and 3rd Place - $125.
To be eligible to win a prize, the contestant must enter every week of the contest.
If a contestant fails to fill out the tiebreaker scores, then they will be ineligible for prizes in the event of a tie.
Official rules and a sample form can be referenced in the 2025 Football Contest graphic provided in the newspaper.
