Week one of the Levelland News Press Football Contest has concluded and we had over 29 contestants.
Although, prize winners will not be determined until the conclusion of the full ten weeks, we will provide updates on who won each week and the week-toweek season leaders.
The week one matchup between Morton and Seagraves ended in a tie due to weather, so that game will be disregarded and we will only judge by the other 19 games.
This week's winner was decided by the tiebreaker as two contestants went 16-3 on their picks, and their tiebreaker scores were literally only a point apart.
The tiebreaker was the total score between Ohio State and Texas, which ended up being 21 points.
Glen Lyon won this week with a tiebreaker score of 55, winning by one point over Lonnie Joe Howell whose tiebreaker score was 56.
Great picks by both contestants, and especially to Glen who sits in the lead after week one.
All-in-all it was an extremely competitive week as two other contestants went 15-4 on their picks and eight contestants had a record of 14-5.
Then there was a five-way tie for dead last across contestants, who all went 10-9 on their picks this week.
A fun little fact about the week one matchups is that only one person out of 29 contestants picked Alabama at Florida State correctly.
Great job by Tom Wilson, predicting the Seminoles to pull off the upset.
