Morri Hartgraves chosen for the 2025 Lubbock Music Now

Long time Levelland resident and musician Morri Hartgraves has been chosen for the 2025 Lubbock Music Now album. Artists must live within 100 miles of the Lubbock city limits. Morri Hartgraves was the only artist chosen to represent Hockley County. The albums final track list was chosen by a panel of past and present members from the Texas Branch of The Recording Academy, known as the Texas Grammy Board. This acclaimed series enriches Lubbock’s cultural landscape through music. The album captures the soundtrack of the vibrant Lubbock plains. Morri Hartgraves was the only artist with two songs chosen for the album. One featured Hartgraves’ jazz ensemble “The Morri Hartgraves Quintet.” This song was composed by Morri Hartgraves and is entitled “The Lies of Those I Loved.” Hartgraves was also chosen to write a song memorializing the late Lubbock music legend Don Caldwell former owner of Caldwell Studios and the Cactus Theater. On this cut of the album Morri Hartgraves wrote and performed a number called “Stray Dogs.” Morri Hartgraves will perform his winning songs on the Lubbock Music NOW TV Show on Fox 34.

The 2025 album has been released on Spotify, Apple Music, Amazon Music and dozens of other streaming services. Hard copies of the CD are available for purchase through Select-a-Seat Lubbock (www.selectaseatlubbock.com). “The South Plains has a proud music heritage. I think this years album does a wonderful job of celebrating how it continues to evolve and the diversity of talent and genres that make our music scene the envy of the region,” said James Eppler, Civic Lubbock Inc. board member and chair of the Entertainment Lubbock Committee, which oversees the project.
